If Hannibal was a wizard - Secrets of Dumbledore
The good, the bad, and the cannibal - wait I mean wizard. Maybe an unpopular take but I really enjoyed this film. There are some things that feel a little disconnected from the first two that are not just Mads Mikkelsen now playing Grindelwald but overall I had a great time. Mads was phenomenal but there was a lot of Hannibal vibes happening. Not a complaint but now I know what Hannibal would be like if he was a wizard. Or maybe he always was…read on for my full thoughts!
The Winchesters Season 1 - Pilot
As a fan of Supernatural I was both hesitant and excited to have this fandom return to tv. Hesitant because I know spin-offs can be hit or miss but excited because Jensen Ackles is very involved and I trust that he knows what he is doing. So, what is The Winchesters? It’s the origin story of Mary Campbell and John Winchester. We saw some of how they met in Supernatural but this takes things up a notch. We get depth and detail all being narrated by Dean himself. And for a pilot and a spin-off, this wasn't bad at all.
Fantastic Beasts - The Secrets of Dumbledore || The Tea
It’s been awhile but we finally have some new content for the next Fantastic Beasts film. And I’ll be honest, when they removed Johnny Depp as Grindelwald I wasn’t actually planning on continuing with it. But then the one actor was cast as Grindelwald that I can’t be upset about. Or rather the one actor that will get me to give this movie a chance. Mads Mikkelsen. I loved him in Hannibal, Casino Royale, and many of his Danish films. I still think Johnny Depp is the best choice for the role of Grindelwald, and I think it was a huge mistake to remove him. That being said I think Mads will still do a great job, despite my casting preferences. He is still a phenomenal actor.
Now. The trailer. Aside from my issues with Grindelwald, I think it looks pretty great so far. So let’s dive right in.
Shadowhunters || The Tea
Shadowhunter’s. At first glance you’d see demon fighting Nephilim with cool tattoos. It’s a great lead in but how does it hold up as an adapted from book tv series? That’s what I’m here to discuss. This is adapted from Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series, but this isn’t a compare and contrast so much as a review of the show. Book talk will remain to a minimum.
